Richard Dreyfuss is an American actor known for films including American Graffiti, Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, The Goodbye Girl and Mr. Holland’s Opus. He won the Academy Award for Best Actor for The Goodbye Girl and received a second Best Actor nomination for Mr. Holland’s Opus. [2][3]
Career and work
Dreyfuss rose to prominence in the 1970s with roles in American Graffiti, The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz and Steven Spielberg’s Jaws. He then starred in Spielberg’s Close Encounters of the Third Kind and Neil Simon’s The Goodbye Girl. [4]
For The Goodbye Girl, Dreyfuss won the Academy Award for Best Actor in 1978. Nearly two decades later, he received another Best Actor nomination for Mr. Holland’s Opus. [2][3]
