Adrienne Benediktsson is a scientist and associate professor of biology at Mount Royal University in Calgary. Her research has examined the structure and function of astrocytes and, more recently, her lived experience of bipolar disorder alongside the neuroscience of the condition. [1][4]

Benediktsson is an associate professor in the Department of Biology at Mount Royal University. She earned a PhD in neuroscience from the University of Iowa and completed postdoctoral work at the University of Pennsylvania, Tufts University and the Hotchkiss Brain Institute at the University of Calgary. [1][2]
Her research has focused on the structure and function of astrocytes, a type of brain cell, using microscopy. More recently, she has also used autoethnography to examine her lived experience of bipolar disorder alongside the neuroscience of the condition. [1][4]
